01 / The studio

Ideas that
spill beyond the frame.

I draw, I paint, and sometimes I tell stories in panels. When an image refuses to sit still, it becomes a GIF or a video.

And when I put down
my pencil, I read.

The notebook opens with a book that left me stunned: Né d’aucune femme, by Franck Bouysse.

Behind the pencil

Stephan Maeck, the artist behind STEMA-CREA
Stephan Maeck · STEMA-CREA

Sales director by day.
Artist by night.

I've been drawing since I was little. At school, I sketched everything around me. It helped me focus, though my teachers were rather less enthusiastic.

I studied at Saint-Luc in Brussels, where I sometimes felt I had to stay within the lines. At the Beaux-Arts in Brussels, I finally got to step outside them, and loved it. I also took three years of comic art classes outside school.

Then life moved on, and a living had to be made: hospitality, sales, and eventually my current role as a sales director. But the pencil never left my side. This site is where I share everything that still comes out of it.
